Cheeky and back chatting 3 and a half year olds?

I know this is normal and that 99 percent of kids this age start this( in diffrent degrees of course) what i would like to know is ( from moms that have been through it or are still going through it) how you have dealt with it ( or are dealing with it) . Any effective tips would be welcome keeping in mind i do not want to break his spirit or be to hard on him.

1. I'm not actually a mom but my best friend is actually going through the dsame thing at the moment with her daughter. She found that the best thing to do was not to allow her to watch "dora" until she said sorry and started being good again. y mom on the other hand used to put my younger brother on the "naughty step" for a certain period depending on what he had done. hope this helps in some way xx
